Manila Vice Mayor Franciso “Isko Moreno” Domagoso appears to be the biggest gainer in the December 12-14 survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
Survey results showed that Moreno had jumped to No. 11, compared to his No. 28-31 ranking in September 2015.
His 4 percent conversion rate rose by 26 points or 30 percent in barely two months despite limited television and radio ads.
“Lubos po ang aking pasasalamat sa tiwala na ibinibigay ng ating mga kababayan pero malayo pa ho ang biyahe [I am thankful for the public’s trust and support but we still have along way to go],” Moreno said.
According to him, the survey numbers will inspire him to work even harder as he will be up against prominent families and reelectionist and comebacking senators.
A former movie actor known professionally as Isko Moreno, he is seeking a seat in the Senate in the May2016 elections.
The national president of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP), he noted that he still has a lot of challenges to hurdle especially the name change since most survey firms have begun using Domagoso instead of Moreno in their survey questions.
This was evident in results of a survey by another polling firm, Pulse Asia, which also showed him placing No. 16-20.
Moreno attributed his dramatic rise in the SWS survey to his frequent visit to rural areas of the country and support of his colleagues from the VMLP, as well as the national mayors’ league, the national councilors’ league and the national barangay (village) league.
His ascent in the poll, he said, would not have been possible without “the support of the people, including residents of Manila.”
