Isla Lipana and Co., the Philippine member firm of the PwC global network, marked its 92nd anniversary with announcements of new partners, an advanced rating from Integrity Initiative, and a gold finalist status in the 2014 Asia-Pacific SABRE Awards.
The company named Paul Chester See and Benjamin Azada as partners to the firm effective July 1, 2014.
See’s appointment as assurance partner came in recognition of his over 12 years of experience in auditing local and multinational companies in diverse industries. His projects include internal control attestation audits in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (US SOX) and Financial Instruments and Exchange Act of Japan (J-SOX), internal audit outsourcing, financial due diligence, business process and compliance reviews, and special regulatory audits. He has closely worked with the PwC US Global Capital Markets Group on the reviews of US SEC quarterly and annual filings. See is one of the company’s key resource people in audit methodology before he was named partner to the firm.
Azada joined the Southeast Asia Consulting (SEAC) practice in the Philippines from PwC Hong Kong, where he spent over a decade helping clients in China and across the region execute enterprise-wide transformation programs. As the newly installed consulting principal, he plans to expand the local practice’s capabilities and offerings in shared services and outsourcing advisory. Clients will include both existing captive centers in Manila, as well as MNCs seeking to offshore key processes to the Philippines.
The Integrity Initiative gave Isla Lipana and Co. an advanced rating on integrity practices —the only professional firm in the country to earn this honor. This means that the firm’s current integrity systems and processes are eligible to qualify for the initiative’s Integrity Certification Program. Only 12 companies have received this rating so far.
The Integrity Initiative (www.integrityinitiative.com) is a private sector-led campaign aiming to promote good governance, transparent business transactions and implement strict integrity standard in the Philippines. It is implemented by the Makati Business Club and the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.
The firm’s Philippine Gems campaign has been recognized as one of five Gold Finalists in the Travel and Leisure category of the 2014 Asia-Pacific SABRE Awards.
Philippine Gems (www.philippinegems.com) is a nationwide search campaign to identify the country’s next wave of tourist destinations. It aims to increase awareness and boost local tourism in the Philippines. It envisions to help in community development by attracting more business investments. PR agency Fleishman Hillard Manila helped the firm mount and promote the campaign.
From a field of close to 1,400 entries from across the Asia-Pacific region, the campaign was one of the 248 finalists that made it across 50+ categories.
The SABRE Awards, which attracts close to 5,000 entries globally each year, provide the premier showcase for the best that public relations has to offer, celebrating winning work, which includes separate programs in North America, the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), and Asia-Pacific.
