Island Dreams, the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival winner for Best Gender Sensitive Film Award (New Wave Category) will be shown in Turkey, following a one-year licensing partnership between Kenau Pictures Production and TTNET, the largest Internet service provider in the transcontinental nation.
The film was also released on July 23, 2014 in Metro Manila in selected SM Cinemas.
With local market exposures and positive reviews in the Philippines, Turkish audiences will now enjoy Island Dreams in HD. The beautiful romantic comedy is truly universal with a simple story and heartfelt journey of two people—an unaccredited tour guide and a heartbroken tourist who form a romantic bond as they explore the wilderness of the Philippine Islands. The film was shot in Batangas, southwestern part of Luzon.
First-time Filipino producer Kenneth Au acknowledged the difficulty of making an indie film for both local and international audience, describing it as “a big challenge.”
“But we’re confident there are enough elements in Island Dreams to please audiences from other countries, and our only obstacle in getting it out there was finding distribution,” he explained. “But now we have TTNET, which can show our film to the world.
TTNET has around seven million subscribers with worldwide access, and will make Island Dreams available through TTNET Pay TV and Optional Content Services in Turkey, North Cypus Turkish Republic, Turkic Republics, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, and the United States.
Kenau Pictures Production is a Filipino indie film company started up by Au and his wife Fredalaine in 2013. The company strives to promote Filipino cultures to the international market and share positive message with high entertainment value.
