JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday slammed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' unwillingness to recognize Israel as a Jewish state in an interview by New York Times.

In the interview published on Sunday, Abbas proposed his own plan for security arrangements with Israel which accepts some major demands imposed by Israelis throughout the deteriorating peace negotiations starting last July.
