Issues and challenges in environmental conservation

Haribon has just released the June 2013 issue of Haring e-Bon, a monthly electronic newsletter documenting real issues and challenges in conservation work.

In Haring e-Bon June issue, find out how Haribon celebrated the World Environment Month Day on June 5. Check out pledges submitted by Haribon staff, partner institutions, and contributions from our newest Ambassadors for Conservation, Aljur Abrenica and Barbie Forteza.

Get to experience first-hand what it means to “jump back to basics” from volunteers from Ateneo when they visited Buhay Punlaan, a nursery of native trees species in Barangay Lewin, Lumban, Laguna.

Haribon’s two biologists participated in the Wildlife Conservation Society of the Philippines 22nd Philippine Biodiversity Symposium. Kevin Carlo Artiaga presented “Raptor observations in Mt. Susong Dalaga, San Luis, Aurora Province” and J Kahlil Panopio discussed “On the Conservation of Nationally Threatened Birds of the
Philippine,” which brings attention to the need for updating the national list of threatened bird species, as well as for the lack of official protection to majority of the Important Bird Areas in the Philippines.

On the Spot features Jonathan Jaime Guerrero, a Haribon member and a professor at the Bicol University.

A new section of the electronic newsletter highlights one of Haribon’s projects, the Biodiversity Partnerships Project in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro.
