Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), the authorized distributor of Isuzu vehicles in the country, once again secured its position in the top three automotive brands as it continue to surpass its record sales posted last year.
Based on the reports released by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), IPC sold 14,213 units for the first eight months of the year for a 7.9-percent total market share.
This strong sale reflects on a 69-percent increase in sales from January to August compared to the previous year – making IPC announce that it had already exceeded its total number of units sold in 2014 or 14,134 units.
IPC president Hajime Koso was elated after learning of the latest sales figures, thanking the Filipinos for the continuous support and confidence with the brand. Despite the “ghost month” wherein sales are usually lean, Isuzu still showed progress and is gaining momentum toward the end of the year, he said.
While the automotive industry in the country has experienced an 11-percent drop on the commercial vehicle segment last month, Isuzu remained strong and showed a positive outcome in terms of sales, Koso added.
In August, IPC sold a total of 1,896 units, with the Isuzu mu-X being the flagship vehicle – selling a total of 880 units. Meanwhile, IPC’s Crosswind AUV and D-MAX pick-up both showed steady growth, with 330 and 291 units sold respectively.
Likewise, Isuzu also maintained its number one position in the Category III light-duty trucks last month with a total sale of 261 units, proving that it is still one of the country’s leading truck brands. Continuing its sales upsurge are Isuzu’s Category IV and V medium to heavy-duty trucks selling 134 units, which was mainly attributed to the strong fleet sales of the company.
Expressing his optimism, Koso said the robust sales will continue as the year progresses. “With continued confidence from our customers, Isuzu Philippines is set to reach another milestone this year. We believe that the mu-X will continue to be our bestseller although we are eyeing additional positive inputs from our trucks and buses segment,” he added.
