ITS South Terminal contract signing postponed – DOTC

The signing of the P4-billion contract for the Integrated Terminal System (South Terminal) on Wednesday has been cancelled by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).

The contract awarded to Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) was suppose to be signed in Makati City, but was pushed at a later date that is yet to be determined as DOTC Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya was called by President Benigno Aquino III for an emergency meeting.

“I was called for a meeting in Malacañang, from I which I couldn’t excuse myself.” Abaya said in a text message to reporters.

The public-private partnership (PPP) project covers a 4.7-hectare site in Taguig City.

The project will connect passengers coming from Laguna and Batangas to other transport
systems, including the North-South Commuter railway, another PPP project.

Under a 35-year contract ALI will take care of the design, construction and financing of the ITS South Terminal and the operation and maintenance of the whole facility.

The DOTC said the postponement of the contract signing will not affect the agreement with ALI in any way.

“We will reschedule and get it signed as soon as possible.” Abaya said.
