Only 300 units up for grabs
Jaguar has unveiled a limited-edition variant of the F-Type Coupe and Convertible called the “British Design Edition” exclusively for the US market. The UK carmaker revealed that the cosmetic and performance upgrades will be added on top of the F-Type S, which is powered by a supercharged, 3.0-liter, twin-cam, 24-valve V6 engine producing 375 horsepower and 460 Newton-meters of torque. This is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with sequential-shift mode and optional all-wheel drive.
The British Design Edition also has the optional high-performance braking system as standard. This includes two-piston, 380-millimeter front discs and single-piston, 376-millimeter rear discs, with the calipers finished in red.
Flying the flag
Those who opt for the package will get to choose from colors inspired by the Union Jack: Caldera Red; Glacier White; and Ultra Blue with Ultimate Black also available. Other exterior changes include 20-inch Cyclone wheels with a unique Satin Gray finish that are unique to the package, discreet “British Design Edition” badging front and rear, and a subtle-monochrome Union Jack in place of the “S” model roundel.
In addition, the optional Design Package is standard equipment on the British Design Edition and includes a gloss-black front splitter, body-colored side-sill extensions and a body-colored rear venturi valance.
Leather-carbon fiber interior
Opening the doors of the F-Type British Design Edition, buyers will also find special branding the stainless-steel treadplates. The Jet Black leather interior also has a choice of Red, Ivory or Reims Blue contrast stitching with British Design Edition branding embossed on the headrests. Satin carbon-fiber trim replaces the standard aluminum trim, with more branding on the center console.
The package also includes a 12-speaker, 770-watt Meridian surround-sound system with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This includes Jaguar InControl Apps, Jaguar InControl Remote and InControl Protect, which allows owners to not only monitor the vehicle, but also to make calls for emergency and roadside assistance.
The InControlRemote App is also available for the Apple Watch, allowing drivers to use their Apple Watch to lock and unlock the vehicle, check how much fuel is in the tank, find their car on a map, set the climate control and start the engine to bring the cabin to the desired temperature before their journey begins.
The company said only 300 units of the British Design Edition will be produced starting spring of 2016, with prices starting at $92,100 (approximately P4.35 million).
