Jail guard gunned down despite gun ban


SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: A La Union Provincial jail guard was shot dead at a parking lot in front of the legislative building of the City Council here by a still unidentified gun man while seated inside his service vehicle, early on Saturday morning. Newly-installed officer-in-charge provincial police director, Police Supt. Bryant Demot, identified the victim as Jonathan Casuga, 39 years old, Prison Guard I of the La Union Provincial Jail and resident of Barangay Masicong but staying at Barangay Sevilla. He was a relative of Loreta Casuga, barangay captain of Masicong. A fellow jail guard, considered a witness, said Casuga was waiting for his incoming duty companions at that time aboard a parked Toyota Hilux with plate number SHV 461 when was shot three times.
