THERE would be no slowing down for reel and real love team and couple James Reid and Nadine Lustre, since their combined appeal seems to transcend film and TV. Live shows continue to come their way— of which the latest is the MTV Music Evolution concert on June 24 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.
No first timers in the music scene, Reid and Lustre have already headlined their own concert dubbed JaDine in Love at the Smart Araneta Coliseum just this February. On that unforgettable night for their legions of fans, the Viva artists finally admitted their off-screen love affair.
For MTV Music Evolution, the superstar pair will share the stage with famous international pop acts, beginning with the show’s headliner, chart-topping band OneRepublic.
Also announced to perform at the one-night event are Billboard Hot 100 artist, American singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha, and Korea’s favorite K-pop idol female group Apink.
Top OPM artist Sarah Geronimo was also among the first artists to be revealed as part of the second MTV Music Evolution.
“These stellar performers personify the sound of local pop music which we are looking forward to celebrate on the MTV stage.” Paras Sharma, senior vice president of MTV for Asia said.
Looking back at their individual musical careers, Reid first launched his self-titled debut album in 2013. The tracks included his version of Michael Jackson’s “Loving Arms,” and “Alam Niya Ba,” which the Reid himself composed.
Just last year, the actor and singer released his second album titled Reid Alert containing hits like “Huwag Ka Nang Humirit” and “Hanap-Hanap.”
Lustre, on the other hand, was already producing hits as a member of PopGirls before her breakout role in Diary ng Panget, the movie where the JaDine love team was introduced.
In 2015, her self-titled album and hit “Me & You” was recognized by SBS Pop Asia with a Titanium Award alongside other hit makers in the region, like Super Junior, U-KISS and EXO.
In the same year, Lustre, in tandem with Callalily vocalist Kean Cipriano performed the song “Sa Ibang Mundo” by Mark Villar for the 2015 PhilPop songwriting competition and earned the People’s Choice Award, as well as second place during the PhilPop finals night.
“MTV Music Evolution Manila 2016 is going to be one of the best nights of your summer. So join me, Nadine and some of the biggest artists in pop music—from both the international and Pinoy scenes as we dance the night away,” expressed Reid.
Lustre seconded, “What an honor to perform live for MTV Music Evolution Manila and to share the stage with some of the most talented musicians. I can’t wait to see everyone there!”
