JAPANESE FIRM SIPHONS OIL FROM SUNKEN FERRY

CEBU CITY: A Japanese salvage team on Wednesday started siphoning off the remaining oil from the sunken passenger ferry MV St. Thomas Aquinas off Talisay City. The St. Aquinas of 2GO Inc. sank after colliding with the cargo vessel MV Sulpicio Express Siete on August 16. The death toll was placed at 115, with 22 others still reported as missing. Noel Kimmayong, of Malayan Towage and Nippon Salvage Co., said they hope to drain all oil on September 28.
