What do American Idol Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles and Robin Thicke have in common? Besides being world famous music artists, all four have witnessed the singing styles of Filipino-American Jason Farol over the hit US competition Duets.
The show pairs one music star with each contestant, and as the story goes, the 23-year-old six-footer was personally chosen by American Idol champ Kelly Clarkson in a nationwide search.
“Jason does a beautiful job of emoting,” Clarkson was quoted on the show. She and Jason had memorable performances of The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction,” the Mariah Carey-Brian McKnight duet, “Wherever You Call,” and Clarkson’s own “Breaking Your Own Heart.”
Jason finished strong as the competition’s second runner up, and since then has continued to win over new in listeners in the US, even performing numerous times with his coach and Duets partner Clarkson at the latter’s concerts.
Now, Jason a Filipino at heart is reconnecting with his roots in the Philippines with the release his self-titled debut album. The first two singles, which have been released, are “I Believe In Love Again,” and the OPM song “Kung Ikaw At Ako.”
“Singing the Tagalog song ‘Kung Ikaw At Ako’ really put me in a Filipino way of thinking,” says Jason. He is also excited to promote it in a series of mall shows on the following dates: today at Glorietta, 5 p.m.; October 25 at TriNoMa, 6 p.m.; October 26 at Harbor Point Subic, 5 p.m.; and October 27 at Marquee Mall in Pampanga, 5 p.m.
Jason Farol’s debut album is released exclusive by Viva Records and will be available this second half of October.
