Jawbreakers snaps AMA in PBA D-League


Zark’s Burger finally entered the winning column after a 109-91 trouncing of AMA Online Education on Monday in the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City

James Mangahas connected 6-of-12 triples and finished with a double-double performance of 26 points and 14 rebounds to help the Jawbreakers halt a three-game losing streak.

Rob Celiz added 25 markers and seven boards while Clark Daniel Bautista finished with 18 points and six rebounds for the Zark’s Burger.

“It is a must-win game for us after our previous losses. I told them that this is our chance to win and they did their part during the entire game that’s why we won,” said Jawbreakers head coach Jade Padrigao.

Down by one after the first quarter, 23-24, Zark’s staged a rally behind Mangahas’ 13-point production to take the lead, 55-45, going in to the second half.

Celiz caught fire in the third canto but the Titans, powered by Paolo Pontejos, Daniel Salonga, and Embons Bonleon joined forces to cut the lead to six, 66-72, with 1:24 left in that period.

Leading by seven points midway in the final quarter, 90-83, Zark’s unleashed a telling 12-0 to pull away out of reach, 102-83, 1:38 remaining.

“The whole team is very happy and I hope we continue this momentum,” Padrigao added.

Ivan Villanueva scored a double-performance with 29 points and 15 rebounds for the Titans.

Bonleon and Pontejos combined for 35 points while Andre Paras had 22 rebounds on top of seven points and three blocks for AMA.
