• Jennylyn Mercado, Coco Martin lead Star Awards for TV winners


    The 30th annual Star Awards for TV was held on Sunday night at Novotel Manila Araneta Center where Jennylyn Mercado and Coco Martin won the top plums from the Philippine Movie Press Club. Mercado took home the Best Actress Award for her role on GMA Network’s My Faithful Husband, while Martin was named Best Actor for ABS-CBN’s FPJ Ang Probinsyano. Martin’s year-old prime time series, which is extended indefinitely for now, also won Best Prime Time Drama Series.

    Meanwhile the special recognitions of this year’s edition were given to Diamond Star Maricel Soriano (Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award); Luchi Cruz Valdes (Excellence In Broadcasting); Dulce (Pilita Corrales Lifetime Achievement Award); Vic del Rosario (Parangal Levi Celerio); and Kim Chiu and Xian Lim (German Moreno Power Tandem of The Year).tv-winners20161026

    Hosted by Lim, Chiu, Luis Manzano, Jodi Sta. Maria, Alex Gonzaga and Robi Domingo, the awards night also featured stand out performances from Martin Nievera, Jed Madela, Erik Santos, Darren Espanto, Sam Concepcion, Jason Dy, Yassi Presman, and the Hashtags.

    The other winners of the major awards are as follows;

    Best Daytime Drama Series: Doble Kara (ABS-CBN 2)

    Best Drama Supporting Actress: Sunshine Dizon (Little Nanay, GMA 7)

    Best Drama Supporting Actor: A tie between Arjo Atayde (FPJ’S Ang Probinsyano, ABS-CBN 2) and Arron Villaflor (All Of Me, ABS-CBN 2)

    Best Child Performer: McNeal “Aura” Briguela (FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, ABS-CBN 2)

    Best New Male TV Personality: A tie between Simon “Onyok” Pineda (FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, ABS-CBN 2) and Jake Ejercito (God Gave Me You, GMA 7)

    Best New Female TV Personality: Ria Atayde (MMK: Puno Ng Mangga, ABS-CBN 2)

    Best Drama Anthology: Ipaglaban Mo (ABS-CBN 2)

    Best Single Performance by an Actress: Claudine Barretto (MMK: Itak, ABS-CBN 2)

    The 30th Star Awards for TV will be shown on November 20 on ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best.
