Tabaco City, Albay: Liberal Party (LP) vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo, widow of former Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo, is not planning to look for a new love anytime soon.
Mrs. Robredo, who has three children with Jesse—Aika, Tricia and Jillian—noted that while she misses receiving flowers from her husband even if it is not Valentine’s day, he remains irreplaceable.
Robredo, a former Interior Secretary, died in a plane crash off the coast of Masbate in August 2012.
“Sa 25 taon kaming magkasama, hindi ako binigyan ng sakit ng ulo ng asawa ko. Baka naman pag maghanap pa ako ng love life, bigyan lang ako ng sakit ng ulo kaya di bale na lang [We were together for 25 years, and he never gave me headaches. If I look for a love life, maybe it will just give me headaches so I’d rather not go for it],” Robredo told reporters.
She recalled her husband’s habit of giving her “leftover” roses. She said Jesse distributed flowers to women employees of Naga City Hall.
“No matter how busy he was, he really makes time to buy and give flowers to his employees. Those flowers not taken were given to me,” the lawmaker said.
This year, the Robredo ladies will spend Valentine’s day together.
Robredo earlier appealed to her townmates in Naga to vote for former Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas 2nd.
“If you will help me, help Secretary Roxas, too, as well as the 12 senators because we are in this fight as a family,” Robredo said before a jampacked crowd in Plaza Quezon here on Friday night.
“I have always said that if you will help me but won’t help my President, I won’t be able to go on full speed with my job [as Vice President]because my job will depend on what the President will ask me to do. That is how important your help is for myself and Secretary Mar,” Robredo added.
The Governor of Camarines Sur, Migz Villafuerte, is backing Sen. Grace Poe but is supporting Robredo.
“It won’t be sufficient if you are only going to help me, but not my team mates. Our dreams won’t become a reality. It will only be realized if our President will listen to us,” Robredo.
