Jinggoy asks to visit his mother

Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada is asking the Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division for a five-hour furlough to be with his mother on her 85th birthday. Estrada is detained in the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame over a P183-million plunder case in connection with the pork barrel scam pending before the anti-graft court. Lawyer Noel Malaya said former Senator Loi Ejercito Estrada visited her son last Sunday and asked him to join her and the rest of the family to celebrate the occasion, which will be held at Blue Leaf Filipinas at Asiana City in Parañaque City. The defense asked the court to allow Estrada to leave his place of detention from 8 p.m. of June 2 to 1 a.m. of June 3, under escort of PNP custodial center personnel.
