‘Jinggoy, Bong, JPE should remain in Camp Crame’

A resolution has been filed at the Senate seeking continuous detention of Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jose “Jinggoy” Ejercito Estrada and Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. in Camp Crame, the Philippine National Police headquarters in Quezon City.

The resolution authored by Senators Vicente Sotto 3rd and Gregorio Honasan aims to provide the detained lawmakers adequate space so that they can continue to perform their functions as duly elected representatives of the people.

Enrile, Revilla and Estrada were charged with plunder and graft in connection with the pork barrel scam.

Sotto and Honasan said while the senators’ case is pending at the Sandiganbayan, the three lawmakers should remain under detention in Camp Crame so that they may have access to facilities and the space to continue to function as duly elected representatives of the people on the constitutional principle that the accused are presumed innocent until final conviction by the proper court.
