The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday confirmed that Pauleen Therese Mary Labayen, a former staff of Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada, and two government officials with hold departure orders (HDOs) have fled the country.
Immigration Commissioner Siegfred Mison said Labayen had left the country before the Sandiganbayan issued the HDO against her and 53 others implicated in the pork barrel scam.
Citing Immigration database, Mison added that Labayen and the two officials—former Technology Resource Center Director-General Antonio Ortiz and Renato Ornopia—flew out in 2013.
Initial investigation, BI spokeswoman and lawyer Elaine Tan said, showed that Labayen used the name “Pauline Therese Mary Labayen Cabico” in her passport when she skipped the country.
Tan said 14 other accused in the scam are unaccounted for: John Raymund de Asis, Ronald John Lim, Margarita Guadinez, Maria Julie Villaralvo-Johnson, Sofia Cruz, Fernando Ramirez, Dorilyn Fabian, Hernani Ditchon, Rodrigo Galay, Aileen Palama, Amparo Fernando, Myla Ogerio, Jesus Castillo and Noel Macha.
