    Friendship and change.
These are the two possibilities that John Lloyd Cruz is looking forward to these coming months—friendship with her ex-girlfriend actress Angelica Panganiban, and change for the Philippines under the leadership of presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte.

Cruz expressed his hopes for the near future at his launch as the newest brand ambassador of Great Taste coffee on May 11 at the Crowne Galleria Plaza Manila in Mandaluyong City.

    About Angelica
In his interview, Cruz was interrogated about his current situation with Panganiban, especially since the latter even promoted her ex-boyfriend’s latest blockbuster movie, Just the Three of Us.

Panganiban posted the movie’s poster on her Instagram account last week giving rise to speculations that there may still be hope for reuniting the former lovers.

Of the controversial IG post, Cruz simply said, “Nagpapasalamat ako sa kanya. Ang friends naman nagbibigay ng suporta sa isa’t isa.”

The award-winning actor with numerous blockbuster hits to name also debunked reports that Panganiban was throwing “hugot” lines against him via gag show, Banana Sundae.

Cruz said, “It wouldn’t be good kung iisipin kong para sa akin iyon. Not everything is about you John Lloyd. Napaka-arogante kung iisipin na lahat ng mga iyon ay patama sa akin. Sa kaso namin, alam namin ‘yong totoo, alam ko ‘yong totoo. And I think that’s more than enough.”

While it appeared that communication is indeed kept open between Panganiban and Cruz, the actor warned, “Sana huwag mabigyan ng kulay because dalawang tao kaming may pinagsamahan at hindi imposibleng maging magkaibigan kami.”

Cruz said he is enjoying independence nowadays and sees no reason to date anytime soon.

“I’m really taking my time kasi medyo may edad na rin tayo. Hindi pwedeng pa-date-date lang. I’d rather be working than dating,” he explained. “I’m enjoying this (independence). I have more time for myself, gawin ‘yong mga bagay na interesado ako. Kung may dumating, bakit hindi, pero for now, OK ako dito,” he added.

    Message to Duterte
With his Great Taste launch held just days after the national elections, Cruz naturally found himself asked for his comments on Duterte’s win.

While the bankable actor never endorsed any presidential candidate, he is now one with the Filipinos who voted for the Davao mayor hoping for real change—the very promise of the Duterte campaign.

“Lahat tayo pagod na. Ako I cannot complain, pero yong iba lalo na. ‘Yong mga nakakaramadam ng hirap at struggle,” he voiced out.

Cruz continued, “I am pretty excited about this incoming administration. I think it has a lot of potential because it’s a great opportunity to deliver change. Lahat tayo, we want change.”

Nevertheless, Cruz reminded his fellowmen to also do their part. He said, “Pero kung hindi rin tutulungan ng tao ang nakaupo, nothing’s going to happen.”

In parting, the actor expressed that he will be observing how Duterte will run the nation but also has this encouraging message to give the presumptive president: “Just enjoy the ride. Sa bigat ng inyong bagong tungkulin, OK lang din to enjoy, Sir!”
