Teen fiction fans have this long weekend to catch the film adaptation of Alesana Marie’s best-selling teen novel Talk Back and You’re Dead, which shot to fame via Watt Pad and paperback.

And according to young ones who have seen the movie since it opened on Wednesday, the new addition to the blockbuster team up of James Reid and Nadine Lustre (Diary ng Panget), Joseph Marco, is a must see in the teen flick.

Not only does he look the part of a cool gangster as he plays the role of Red (complete with fiery red hair), he also delivered the acting chops needed for the role of the playful yet righteous bad boy character.

“I’m very happy with how people have reacted to my acting in the movie,” Joseph told The Manila Times in an intimate roundtable with entertainment writers.

Asked how he felt that it seems like his home studio ABS-CBN is grooming him to become its next important leading man, the 25 year old replied, “I’m very grateful for that, especially since I initially had no plans of entering showbiz. I started out in commercials and this wasn’t really part of my plans, but I’m very happy to be here and to be given big breaks, especially Talk Back.”

Indeed, 2014 has proved to be a bountiful year for Joseph with back-to-back accomplishments in the biz. His current afternoon series on ABS-CBN Pure Love, where he stars opposite Alex Gonzaga, is a consistent top-rater; while Talk Back, his first lead role in a movie, is doing very well in the box office.

The film kicks the “good girl meets bad boy” plot up a notch with a faithful live-action version of the best seller that cleverly instills the narrative’s witty lines and romantic scenes.

Talk Back and You’re Dead is a co-production of Star Cinema and Viva Films, and is still showing in theaters nationwide.
