JPE assured Drilon of a constructive opposition bloc in the senate

IT seems that the would be opposition bloc in the senate of the 16th congress will not pose a problem as far as the incoming leadership of the chamber is concerned this after Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile assured Senator Franklin Drilon that their group will not be an “obstructionist”.

Enrile gave his assurance to Drilon during a meeting at a hotel in Makati city, wherein the outgoing senate president reportedly said that the members of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) will be a constructive opposition.

According to Drilon, Enrile has told him that while UNA will actively engage the Liberal Party-led majority coalition in policy debates in the Senate, it doesn’t mean that they will obstruct or block priority measure that aims to address national problems such as poverty and unemployment.
