Thirteen-year old Alfonso Luis Candari of Ateneo de Davao with other six boys, and 11-year old Rozie Amatong with other three other girls emerged from 50 participants as their region’s representatives in the culmination of the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Philippines 2016 regional selection camp at the Ateneo de Davao University—Matina campus on February 28.
The other members of the boy’s squad are Lance Centeno, 13, of Ateneo de Davao, Joven Neil Deligero, 13, of Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High school, Louis Andre Joring, 13, of St. Mary’s School, Tryon Limar Langala, 14, of St. Mary’s School, Anscar Mamac, 14, of Holy Child College of Davao, and Rysan Villasenta, 13, of Holy Child College of Davao.
Aloha Marie Betanio, 12, of Malaybalay City Central School, Kate Buenaventura, 13, of Ateneo de Davao, and Marcila Grace Dellosa, 14, of F. Bangoy National High School are the other members of the girl’s team.
The goal of the camp is to search for young talented basketball players aged 10-14 and recruit them as members of Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA All-Star team.
The All-Star team travels in the Asian region to compete against their counterparts in Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia.
The camp was graced by NBA star Nerlens Noel of the Philadelphia76ers and WNBA legend Ruth Rileywill.
The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Philippines Regional Selection Camp will next go to Cebu on March 5 to 6 before going to Manila on April 9 to 10.
