FORMER World Boxing Organization bantamweight champion Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton will fight Russian kickboxer Irina Mazepa in her second fight in One Fighting Championship: Reign of Champions at the Dubai World Trade Center in Dubai.
Julaton, 34, made an impressive mixed martial arts (MMA) debut when she knocked out Egyptian Aya Saeid Saber in One FC Rise of Heroes at the Mall of Asia Arena in May.
“She’s preparing hard all day and yes, she’s fighting in Dubai,” said Julaton’s trainer Angelo Reyes.
Julaton is carrying a 13-4-1 win-loss-draw record with two knockouts in boxing and 1-0 card in MMA. She is expecting a tough bout against MMA first timer Mazepa, 31, a wushu sanshou fighter that was the K-1 super featherweight women’s champion in 2012.
Julaton and Mezepa will collide in three-round flyweight bout.
After winning in her One FC debut, Julaton spends most of her time in the gym by beefing up her MMA arsenal by training in wrestling, striking and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Besides the Julaton-Mazepa bout, One FC Reign of Champions will feature as main event the fight between Iranian Kamal Sholorus and lightweight world champion Shinya Aoki of Japan. The other highlight of the event are the fight between Japanese welterweight champion Nobutatsu Suzuki and American Ben Askren as well as the entry into One FC of former Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight fighter Filipino-American Brandon Vera.
