FORMER bantamweight champion Filipino-American Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton will fight American Celina Salazar in her bid to gain a title shot at the Plaza De Toros in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
After two impressive victories since losing the World Boxing Organization junior featherweight title to Yesica Marcos last year, Julaton is gunning for one more win to get a title shot against International Boxing Federation bantamweight champion Yazmin Rivas.
If ever she wins against Salazar, the Julaton-Rivas bout may be an added attraction to the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Canelo Alvarez bout on September 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 33-year-old Julaton (12-3-1 win-loss-draw record with two knockouts) posted 123.5 lbs while Salazar 122.6 lbs. during the weigh in.
