FILIPINO fighter Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton delivered timely jabs all-throughout the match to score a majority decision win over Perla Hernandez of Mexico on Friday night in their women’s bantamweight encounter at the Progreso Yucatan State in Mexico.
The judges favored the 33-year-old former world champion Julaton via 97-93, 98-94 and 95-95 scores for her 13th win against four losses and a draw with two knockouts.
Julaton, a Filipino-American, drilled in consecutive jabs and body shots against Hernandez, who fell to 10-7-3 win-loss-draw slate with two knockouts.
Despite sustaining a cut in her right eyebrow in the sixth round, Julaton still traded blows with Hernandez, who also caught the Filipino-American a couple of head shots. But Julaton displayed her fiery form in the 10th round to close out the match in high form.
Trainer Angelo Reyes expressed satisfaction on Julaton’s performance.
Julaton’s training at the Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas plus the strength and conditioning program that she underwent during training gave her enough motivation and the advantage, according to Reyes.
Julaton came from a unanimous loss to Mexican Celina Salazar last August.
