Julia Montes is sweet–honestly

montes20140828Although she began as child actress in a sitcom, Julia Montes made her mark in show business when she portrayed the villainess Clara in the 2010 remake of the classic teleserye, Mara Clara.

With the series becoming a huge success, the image of the cruel Clara was somehow etched in the public’s mind long after Julia had moved on to other projects. Her latest yet again shows a strong-willed Julia, this time as Mona in the ongoing drama series Ikaw Lamang.

But in reality, the 19-year-old celebrity is a sweet young lady who is even quite shy especially when she meets new people for the first time.

The Manila Times saw this side of the popular actress on August 20 when Julia launched her latest endorsement for the Avon Sweet Honesty line of fragrances at Parallax Studio in Makati City.

“Ang personality ko po talaga is sweet and shy. Iba lang yung nakikita sa TV kaya feeling nila mataray ako [I really have a sweet and shy personality. People just see me for my characters on TV, which is why they think I’m a snob]’,” Julia politely explained.

To prove her point, Julia revealed that she always gets jitters backstage before a show. She feels so nervous that she always prays for courage.

“I don’t feel so comfortable when I know all eyes are on me,” she added.

Nevertheless, the mestiza beauty is all smiles all the time. This is her sweet side, which is also reflected in her love for sweet scents.

“I cannot leave the house or even step out of the car without spraying perfume,” confessed Julia.

Calling herself an “addict” to fragrant things, Julia revealed that she also collects soaps, powders, lotions, body washes, and even scented candles, on top of perfumes. When shopping, she heads to the scents section right away.

All these make the actress the perfect fit for Sweet Honesty, Avon’s iconic perfume label. As Jean Reyes, Avon’s Southeast Asia Cluster Marketing head for the Philippines enthused at the launch, “Julia will surely bring life to Sweet Honesty.”

To this, Julia responded, “I really like Sweet Honesty because its scent lasts a long time. It gives me confidence whenever I need to go out and I feel more beautiful wearing it.”

The pretty lady also acknowledged that she first fell in love with perfumes because of Sweet Honesty.

“I was probably 11 or 12 years old and I used to borrow my aunt’s bottle of the perfume, which she bought from Avon dealers,” she related.

This very story further convinced Reyes that Julia is indeed their “girl” because as brand ambassador for the line, she would signify an important transition for the label.

“Sweet Honesty has been in the market for over 30 years already. Loved by women everywhere, the perfume has ruled over Avon’s list of scents not only as the most iconic, but also as the bestseller,” the executive explained. “However, the company also understands that it’s time to introduce fresher and modern scents that still imbibe the heritage of Sweet Honesty, which is why we came up with two new variants—Moments and Forever—with Julia on board the campaign.”

Similarly, Reyes sees Julia to be in the same transition in her career, which continues to flourish with every new project she pursues whether on television or the movies.

Julia meanwhile enthused that the fragrance line gives her the perfect choices on what to wear even in transitions of her personal life.

“When I’m nostalgic I use the classic scent. When I’m happy, I spray on Moments. And when I’m feeling in love or loved, I use Forever,” she sweetly shared.
