Julie Anne: ‘I only want to sing’

Asia’s Pop Sweetheart Julie Anne San Jose triumphantly held her first major solo concert on December 13 titled Hologram at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Showcasing her vocal range in a repertoire of her favorite hits and originals, the young GMA Network artist certainly brought the house down.

Adding glitter to the stage were Christian Bautista, Abra, Sam Concepcion, Jonalyn Viray, and Frencheska Farr who made the night even more special.

Hologram saw Julie Anne in mix of Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Beyonce inspired performances. She also showed her versatility as a performer as she sang “Baby You Are and Blinded” while playing the piano while her holograms had her on the violin, guitar, and drums.

Another concert highlight was an OPM classics medley, which Julie Anne sang in a trio with Jonalyn and Frencheska, featuring “Sana’y Wala Ng Wakas,” “Sana’y Maghintay ang Walang Hanggan,” and “Bituing Walang Ningning.”

The Pop Sweetheart started to become emotional in the middle of  “Sana Ngayong Pasko,” which showed a backdrop of her earlier performances in showbiz.

“Hindi naman po ako nakikipag-kumpitensiya,” she tearfully said hinting on how she feels about recent issues comparing her with other artists. ”Gusto ko lang naman pong kumanta. Kahit ano pang sabihin nila, ginagawa ko po ito para sa inyo.”

Spotted enjoying the well-executed concert were GMA top executives Lilybeth Rasonable, Joey Abacan, and Gigi Lara, among others; as well as Julie Anne’s fellow GMA artists Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, Bela Padilla, Derrick Monasterio, Diva Montelaba, Jeric Gonzales, Stephanie Sol, Mayton Eugenio, Gabbi Garcia, Jak Roberto, Coleen Perez, Sabrina Mann, Phytos Ramirez and Empress Schuck.
