July inflation at 1.9% doubles yr-earlier rate


Headline inflation more than doubled its pace to 1.9 percent in July from a year earlier, although it remained unchanged from June, with higher prices of alcoholic beverages and non-food items offsetting moderated food and energy prices, data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Friday showed.

The comparative rate in July 2015 stood at 0.8 percent.

Core inflation was steady at 1.9 percent in July this year compared with a year earlier.
