THE Peaceful, Responsible Owners of Guns (ProGun) urged the 1.7 million licensed gun owners and their families not to vote for any candidates, particularly from the Liberal Party, who will be endorsed by President Benigno Aquino 3rd.
According to the group, Republic Act 10591 which was implemented by the Aquino administration increased the number of loose firearms because hundreds of thousands of registered gun owners did not renew their licenses deliberately in protest of the government’s anti-gun policies.
“During his term “Shooter” Pnoy Aquino has practically destroyed the entire firearms industry and sports. To all gun owners: Remember this in 2016 do not vote for any Aquino or liberal party candidate!” the group said in its official Facebook page.
Members of the group responded to the call.
“It’s payback time. No to all Liberal Party…period,” one of the members responded to the post.
Another member said that no administration in the past has crippled gun licensing.
“Shooting as a sport is a healthy and legitimate hobby of gun enthusiasts just like any other manly hobby. Having an opposite idea would be a sign of less manly quality.
Hopefully the right senses about guns would be back after 2016 elections,” he added.
Gun enthusiasts also blasted Aquino for allegedly destroying the gun industry even if the president himself is a gun aficionado.
The group asked the Supreme Court to stop the Philippine National Police from implementing the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) which it described as “oppressive.”
“Based on the two year cycle for renewal, and since the new law RA 10591 was passed in 2013, practically all firearms licenses have already expired or will expire, this year.
Congratulations to the government and the PNP for creating 1,692,000 loose firearms,” it said.
