• JV admits getting DAP funds

Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito admitted on Thursday that he received P10 million two weeks after former Supreme Court chief justice Renato Corona was impeached on December 12, 2011.

He said the amount was given when he was a congressman and was not told that it was sourced from the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

“I believe that the DAP was a reward to those who voted in favor of the impeachment of Corona. Two weeks after Corona was impeached, a staff of House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte said we will be given additional P10 million,” he said. “I committed a mistake for not inquiring where the fund would come from because we have been used to receiving additional budget,” he added.

Ejercito said he will return the amount, which funded his feeding program for malnourished and poor children in his district, once the court ruled that it should be returned.

The senator said he had instructed his staff to review and come up with a detailed report on the DAP controversy in preparation for the “kontra SONA” of the opposition.

“I have discussed the matter with Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, when I visited him last Wednesday night,” Ejercito said. Lulu Principe

Not too fast Mr. JV. If you have already spent the funds in what you claimed feeding programs, and claim now that you will return it, are you just returning the unspent amount of the full 10M? Where will you get the money should the court declares you must? From Dad Erap or from what ever funds you may have accumulated in Congress? Since you have nothing to do during the impeachment of Corona, would you consider this as a bribe? for what?
