Two people in the province of Nueva Ecija and Aurora became the casualties from the onslaught of tropical storm ‘Kabayan,’ the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) in Region 3 said on Sunday.
In its bulletin, RDRRMC identified the casualties as Raquel Camilo, 57, of Barangay Luzsok, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija who died from snakebite while Samuel Corcoro, 29 of Barangay Debuco, Maria Aurora province, died from drowning.
For its part, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Council (NDDRMC) also reported two persons were injured in Region 1 while 63 persons missing in Region 1 and 3, of which 31 were already rescued.
The NDRRMC said ‘Kabayan’ affected 4,565 families or 22,368 people in the provinces of La Union, Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and Zambales.
Of these, some 1,391 families or 6,480 people were staying in seven evacuation centers.
A total of 50 barangays (villages) are still flooded in provinces of Pangasina, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and Pampanga.
Damage to property and agriculture was estimated at P1.12 million in the provinces of Pangasinan and Aurora.
A total of 131 houses were damaged (27 total and 104 partially) in Region 3.
It added that total cost of government assistance for the affected families has reached P685,210 in the form of relief goods and medicines for affected families in the provinces of Aurora, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija.
