KRISTELLE ’Kae’ Davantes, the 25-year-old advertising executive who was found stabbed and strangled to death under a bridge in Silang, Cavite province, was a simple and fun loving woman.
Davantes’ simplicity was observed even during her wake at the family residence on Relay Street, Moonwalk village, a middle-class community in Las Piñas City.
Her white coffin dominated the living room, and was surrounded by bouquets of flowers from relatives, friends and officemates at MRM Manila.
The company is a digital marketing agency under the advertising firm McCann Worldgroup Philippines, where she was an account manager for two years.
On top of the coffin were Davantes’ pictures.
Vicente Davantes, Kae’s uncle and the family’s spokesman, said he could not imagine her involved in a quarrel with anyone.
“She was just a simple lady, and fun-loving. We do not know that she had enemies,” he said.
Silang Police commander Supt. Dario Roxas, one of the members of Task Force Davantes, earlier said they were looking into personal angles in the case.
The investigators would like to find out if Davantes had arguments with anyone close to her.
Davantes said Kae and boyfriend Ben Ong wanted to get married in May next year after being engaged for five years.
Kae, he said, was a good and responsible child, taking care of her two younger siblings, Lysette and Joshua, because their parents, Peddy and Beth are working in Saudi Aramco abroad.
Although the family is grieving, Vicente said they felt consoled because of the support extended to them by the public.
He also expressed satisfaction with the way the police was handling the case.
“The law enforcers assigned to the case have been conducting consultation meetings every day. This only shows that they are following up the output of every unit’s task,” he said.
Still, the family was wary in providing information about the case.
“Let us give law enforcement agencies a chance to produce results. They are doing their very best,” Davantes said.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director, Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo Jr. has formed Task Force Davantes to focus on the case.
Davantes said the task force has interviewed the Kae’s boyfriend and officemates.
Garbo said they were still searching for the Toyota Altis that was driven by Davantes, believing it could contain vital clues.
