CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet: A peace pact between the Mabongtot and Lubuagan tribes was finally signed, ending years of conflict that led to the loss of several lives and huge property damage on both sides.
This peace pact was made possible with the help of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-COR) on Conflict Mediation and Diffusion (CMD). It was held at the Kalinga Provincial Police Office and attended by elders of the two tribes who were joined by Kalinga Bodong Council Chairperson Eng. Andres Ngao-i.
The activity was witnessed by members of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) of Kalinga; Judge Marcelino Wacas of the Regional Trial Court Branch 22; Atty. Christian Wandag, provincial legal officer; Francisco Gamatero, DILG provincial director; Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, provincial director—Kalinga Police Provincial Office; Col. Paul Atal, 503rd Brigade commander; Lt. Col. Resurrection Mariano, 17th Infantry Battalion commander, Philippine Army; KARSA members; and Lubuagan Mayor Johnny Dickpus.
