Kapuso stars join Independence Day events in US and Canada

In celebration of the country’s 115th Independence Day, GMA Network—through its international channels GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV and GMA News TV International—partners up with several Filipino-American and Filipino-Canadian groups and communities in commemorating this memorable occasion.

Touted to be the biggest Filipino event outside the Philippines, gathering an average of 80,000 to 100,000 people, The Philippine Independence Day Celebration in New York is slated on June 2nd along Madison Avenue. Filipino-American New Yorkers are in for an all-day event, which includes a Grand Parade, a Cultural Festival and a Street Fair featuring delectable Filipino food and unique merchandise. Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera and Heartthrob Rafael Rosell from the hit teleserye Temptation of Wife, multi-platinum recording artist Julie Anne San Jose, and “Indio” himself, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., will grace the occasion. This event is organized by the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc.

Dennis Trillo and Glaiza de Castro joins the largest population of Filipino-Americans in California for the Philippine Cultural Committee’s Pista sa Nayon in Vallejo on June 1 as well as the Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival on June 8 and 9 in Seattle.

Over in Carson City in California, the Philippine Independence Day Foundation (PIDF) will hold its 15th Carson Independence Day Celebration in Veterans Park on June 8. Joining their Balikatan sa Pag-Unlad festivities are Marian Rivera and Rafael Rosell.

Not to be left behind, the Philippine Canadian Charitable Foundation and Philippine Chambers of Commerce Toronto will celebrate the Pinoy Fiesta and Trade Show in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on June 22. Kapuso stars Dennis Trillo, Rafael Rosell and Glaiza de Castro will be performing.

GMA International always makes it a point to participate in and support key Filipino events all over the globe. It aims to bring our kababayans abroad closer to home by reigniting in them that strong sense of being a Filipino.

“GMA Network is once again pleased to partner with various Filipino community organizations for Philippine Independence Day celebrations in different parts of the world. This year, our participation is anchored on the theme “Proud to be Pinoy!,” in recognition of our countrymen’s pride for our nationhood, culture and history,” states GMA Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph Francia.
