A comedy show, a concert and a morning talk show for TV’s ‘Queen Mother’
She might be not the type of social media user who keys in “#blessed” in every single post but comedienne Karla Estrada surely has many reasons to feel blessed with all the projects lined up for her since she signed a two-year exclusive contract with ABS-CBN.
At the beginning of the week the 39-year-old actress launched her new sitcom-cum gag show Funny Ka, Pare Ko on Cinemo, which is an exclusive channel of ABS-CBN TVplus. The show, which aims to depict how Filipino families conquer challenges without forgetting to have fun and find humor in their lives, also stars Bayani Agbayani, Jayson Gainza, Mar Lopez, Beverly Salviejo, and It’s Showtime ‘Komikeros,’ among others.
Asked how her four children—one of whom as everyone knows is top teen actor Daniel Padilla—feel about her second wind in showbiz through this show, she replied,“Ang mga anak ko ang tawang tawa sa akin so lumalaki ang mga yan na tawang tawa. Ngayon, isa sila sa pinaka-masaya kasi sabi nila, ‘O Ma, nakita na ng buong bayan kung gaano ka ka-baliw.’ Sabi ko, ‘Oo nga anak, mana-mana kasi yan.’ Masayang masaya sila, happing-happy ang mga bata.”
Besides the new sitcom, Estrada confirmed she will also host a morning talk show very soon but refused to divulge any more information on the project. Her recent Instagram post together with Jolina Magdangal and Melai Cantiveros, however, hinted that she will be sharing the said program with these two ladies, especially since all three of them have recently appeared as guest co-hosts of Kris Aquino on Kris TV.
Rumor further has it that the trio will replace the Queen of All Media in the morning slot as soon as the latter begins her announced retirement from show business.
All Estrada had to say amid the endless speculations is, “Malapit na malapit na po yon… pero mas abangan nila yung aking concert sa April 30!”
And with that, she succeeded in ending discussions on the hot topic and announced the details of her first ever solo concert, “Her Highness: The Queen Mother Live in Concert” at the Kia Theater in Cubao, Quezon City.
Estrada by the way was given the moniker “Queen Mother” after her son Daniel Padilla sky-rocketed to fame, as the other half of the phenomenal love team KathNiel, and was proclaimed “Teen King.”
