Singer-host Karylle is all set to launch her sixth studio album via a mini-concert at Eastwood Mall’s Open Park in Libis, Quezon City. Titled A Different Playground, the album is produced by PolyEast Records.
The free mini-concert, according to the artist, is her way of introducing her “brand new sound” to the public, which she has worked to identify and hone in these past few years.
A Different Playground takes on a new direction for the singer who has come a long way from her early days in the music industry. She revealed that after she married fellow songwriter Yael Yuzon of Spongecola, she found a lot of new material since recording her last album with PolyEast Records.
Her previous album simply entitled K featured upbeat pop-dance tracks, which is no longer part of her sound in this new collection of works. Maturing both as a singer and songwriter, she describes the eight-track album as “more soulful.”
However, much like K, A Different Playground still highlights Karylle’s trademark creativity and hands on involvement in music production since many of the songs are self-penned. Highlights from the album are tracks like “Tenderly,” “Sunflowers,” and “Sun-ny Daze,” which is collaboration with Robin Nievera.
The album launch-cum-mini concert will begin at 6 p.m.
