• Kaya, Stallion star as UFL action resumes

Kaya FC and Stallion FC are set to clash with separate foes as the first round of games of the United Football League (UFL) 2016 begins today at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

After an almost month-long break to allow its clubs to compete in international games, the top tier football competition in the country is back with a double-header match date.

Fresh from its exit from the 2016 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup, Kaya FC will play against the Manila Nomads SC at 1:45 p.m.

Kaya currently occupies the fourth spot with two wins and a loss while the Nomads are at the eight spot with a win after three outings.

The men in yellow scored a commanding 10-2 rout of Forza FC powered by the four goals of Senegalese striker Robert Lopez Mendy.

On the other hand, the Nomads are on a two-game losing skid after being beaten by JP Voltes FC, 0-5, and defending champions Ceres La Salle FC, 0-6.

Meanwhile, coach Ernie Nierras’ Stallions are scheduled to face the slumping Laos FC in the 4 p.m. game.

Stallion FC, holding a 1-2 win-loss record, is at the seventh spot while Laos is at the bottom of the standings with three losses.

The Stallions’ 2016 campaign had an awry start after losing their first two matches against league leaders Global FC, 2-4, and Loyola Meralco Sparks FC, 1-3. The club finally notched a 1-0 win over Kaya in their previous outing.

Laos, however, is yet to record a win with three consecutive defeats against Kaya FC, 2-10, Global FC, 0-8, and a default loss against Green Archers United FC on May 15.
