Kaya FC notched a come from behind win against Loyola Meralco Sparks FC, 3-2, in their rivalry clash at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Saturday.
With the win, Kaya now sits at the third seed, closely following number two seed Global FC.
It was Loyola who started the meeting on a high note with Bradley Grayson opening the affair with a sneaky chip-in over Kaya goalkeeper Nicolas O’Donnell in the 23rd minute.
Kaya found no answer to equalize the scoreline until the 58th minute where OJ Porteria found Chris Greatwich, who then used his back heel to level the tally at 1-1.
On the other end, the Sparks once again overtook the upper hand 70 minutes into play as Grayson completed a brace off a pass from Anton Del Rosario deep inside the box.
Consequently, despite Loyola’s steady display of their game, Kaya overpowered them in the final minutes of play.
Kaya’s offense was ignited after Louis Clark took away the football from Loyola defender Adam Mitter and found the back of the net in the 81st minute.
Problems piled up for Loyola until the final minute of their heated bout as their shot-stopper Tomas Trigo failed to control the overpowering game winner sent by Porteria.
