Eric “The Natural” Kelly seeks to break his two-fight losing skid when he fights Japanese veteran Kotetsu “No Face” Boku in ONE: Kings & Conquerors at the Cotai Arena of the Venetian Macau on August 5 in Macau, China.
The 35-year old Baguio native wants to reclaim his winning ways after losing to Mongolian Narantungalag Jadambaa last July 2016, and Malaysian Ev Ting last January 2016. Kelly was enjoying a three-game winning run prior to the two defeats.
“I have been doing this for the past eight years. I am still confident as to how I conduct my training. It has given me success in the past,” said Kelly, who is known to be a lone wolf as he never had an established mixed martial arts team and only hops from one gym to another for training.
Although he acknowledged that he lacks a strong support team, Kelly intends to keep his old training regimen.
“I still believe that it will give me the success in my upcoming fight. It all boils down to discipline,” added Kelly, who has a professional MMA record of 12-3.
Boku, on the other hand, has won his last fight against Timofey Nastyukhin in November 11 last year via technical knockout. Boku’s win-loss-draw record is 25-11-2.
The 40-year old fighter out of Krazy Bee gym is known for his sharp striking and ground game.
Meanwhile, ONE: Kings & Conquerors will be bannered by ONE bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes of Brazil as he defends his belt against Andrew Leone of the United States.
