Filipino rising mixed martial artist Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly scored a second-round technical knockout victory against Vincent Latoel in the co-main event of ONE: Titles and Titans on Saturday night at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Baguio City native gave the Dutch-Indonesian striker a terrible beating in the first round before finishing the fight in the second round with a solid right hook.
Latoel dropped to 16-18 win-loss record with two draws.
Latoel missed a combination before Kelly took advantage unleashing the solid right hook.
The fight was stopped at 0:57 of second round.
Kelly improves to 8-3 win-loss record highlighted by three knockouts and three by submissions.
It was also Kelly’s back-to-back wins after defeating Jordan Lucas in March.
Kelly, 32, the younger brother of popular MMA fighter Eric Kelly, relied on his wushu skills and warded off Latoel’s striking and grappling in the first round of the featherweight contest.
Despite Latoel’s 36-fight experience against Kelly, the Filipino fighter refused to back down from the challenge. Latoel landed some crisp punches plus a thunderous kick on Kelly but it wasn’t enough though.
Latoel attempted a flying knee, but Kelly countered with a takedown also in the first round.
Kelly’s victory also extended Team Lakay’s win streak to four after the recent victory of Eduard Folayang, Honorio Banario and Joshua Pacio in ONE Macau card on August 13.
