FORMER One Fighting Championship (FC) Filipino featherweight champion Eric “The Natural” Kelly said he wants to challenge the current champion Japanese Koji Oishi.

The Filipino fighter Kelly, 31, was knocked out by his compatriot former One FC champion Honorio “The Rock” Banario in February in One FC Return of Kings in Kuala Lum-pur, Malaysia. Kelly said he is presently undergoing intensive training and conditioning for future fights.

“When I lost to Banario, I have no regret because I’m not 100 percent [prepared]due to injuries,” Kelly told The Manila Times via online message on Monday. “I’m getting stronger and faster – of course smarter than before during trainings – I learned well.”

Banario, however, failed to defend his title against Japanese striker Oishi losing via second round knockout in One FC’s Rise to Power on May 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

“I really wanted to fight him [Oishi] and I’ll be very happy if ever they [One FC] will allow that fight to happen,” said Kelly, a sanshou (wushu contact fighting) and Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner. “I’m happy to fight any Japanese fighter too.”

Kelly was enjoying a nine-fight win streak before his loss to Banario.
