Kia Theater inauguration set at Araneta Center

D3---Kia-Center20160315The vision that stemmed almost half a century ago of bringing the good life to a big number of Filipinos gave rise to the Araneta Center, a 35-hectare commercial area in the heart of Quezon City. The boxing bout between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier dubbed “The Thrilla in Manila” held 30 years ago at the Araneta Coliseum, dubbed as the world’s biggest indoor arena in the 1960s, made the center even more popular.

Once again, the Araneta Center is setting the standards to give Filipinos a world-class performing arts venue as it inaugurates the Kia Theatre, formerly known as New Frontier Theater. The newest landmark in Araneta Center that is undergoing a massive 20-year redevelopment features a 2,385-seating capacity and state-of-the-art audio, visual and lighting technologies, as well as features that make for an exceptional entertainment experience

Like the New Frontier Theater which was known as Manila’s premier cinema during the 1960s and whose picturesque shell design it has retained, Kia Theatre is set to become an iconic landmark in the emerging premier central business district in Quezon City.

Araneta Group Chief Executive Officer Jorge Araneta said, “We are thrilled to present KiaTheatre as another contribution of the Araneta Group to the country’s entertainment scene. It will be the home of unforgettable performances and events, and a place where families and friends can have a truly wonderful time.”

Kia Theatre opened in September with its first show, The Disney Live! Mickey’s Music Festival. Several major events and concerts have also jazzed up the venue at the start of the year, including the Pilipinas Got Talent Season 5 auditions and the concert of international artist Nate Ruess. More exciting events are coming up through February, including the Best of Our Love concert featuring New Minstrels & Circus Band and Russell Peters’ Almost Famous World Tour. The 1980s powerhouse singer Richard Marx is also set to perform at the venue in March to be followed by the X Factor winners Little Mix for their Get Weird Tour in May.
