A TEACHER who was kidnapped in Zamboaga Sibugay province two months ago was freed by her captors on Thursday, according to a military official.
Col. Alan Arrojado, commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Joint Task Group Sulu (JTGS), said Reynadeth Bagonoc-Silvano , 31, who is teaching at Tuburan Elementary School in Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay was freed by her kidnappers at around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday in the Jolo town proper.
Silvano and her brother Russel Bagonoc, 22, also a teacher, were on their way to the school when abducted by suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Barangay Moalboal in Talusan on March 15.
Her brother remains in the hands of kidnappers, Arrojado said.
Silvano was brought to the headquarters of the JTGS for debriefing and documentation. She also underwent medical check-up.
Arrojado said the victim told military officials she was released by her captors following continued military operations in Indanan-Parang, Sulu areas, against the ASG.
