Malacañang on Monday announced the appointment of former senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan as Presidential Assistant for Food Security and Agricultural Modernization.
Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said Pangilinan would hold a Cabinet rank, similar to former Senator Panfilo Lacson’s appointment.
Lacson was named Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery (PARR) to lead reconstruction efforts in areas ravaged by super typhoon “Yolanda”.
“Hence, he (Pangilinan) will also hold the title of Secretary,” said Coloma in a text message to reporters.
Pangilinan will take his oath before President Benigno Aquino III Tuesday afternoon in Malacanang. (PNA)
