A suspect in the killing of a village official in Ilocos Sur was arrested on Monday by a composite police team during a manhunt in a remote village in Lagangilang town in Abra province. Chief Inspector Elizabeth Jasmin, spokesperson of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) quoting reports from the field identified the arrested suspect as Jonathan Asuncion. Jasmin said that Asuncion was nabbed by combined operatives of the CIDG Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Sur Provincial Police Office, Provincial Public Safety Company, Abra Provincial Police Office, Regional Public Safety Battalion and the Lagangilang Municipal Police Station. Asuncion was arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest for homicide issued by the courts. He is accused in the killing of Cesar Trinidad, a village councilor of Barangay Casiber in Santa town in Ilocos Sur and is listed as the 4th Most Wanted Person in the provincial level in Ilocos Sur.
