Kim Chiu’s mom dies

“Sana panaginip lang ‘to . . .” was actress Kim Chiu’s last post on her official Twitter account @prinsesachinita at 10 p.m. on June 23 as her network ABS-CBN confirmed that her mother, Louella Yap Chiu, 50, died at a Cebu City hospital.

The official cause of death has not been released as of press time, although entertainment portal reported that a source close to the family said Louella died of an aneurysm.

Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, expressed her thanks “to all who showed their love and support to their family.”

“Star Magic sympathizes with Kim Chiu on the passing of her mother, Louella Chiu. We request that we give Kim and her family the respect and time to grieve for their loss,” it added in a statement.

Until now, the star of Ina, Kapatid, Anak remains unavailable for interviews.

Kim rose to stardom in 2006 after winning ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition.

Back then, Kim revealed in the reality show that she did not grow up with her father and mother.

While an Instagram photo with her estranged father William Chiu Jr. early this year made known that she had made up with him, Kim’s relationship with her mother has hardly been talked about.
