The Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights won 83-78 over the Lyceum of the Philippines Pirates on Tuesday to remain unbeaten in seven games in the 91st National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball tournament elimination round at The Arena in San Juan City.
Kevin Racal finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and three block shots while Rey Nambatac had 17 points plus five rebounds to lead the Knights to its seventh straight win. Mark Cruz, who was hit by an elbow in the first quarter, still managed to score five points for the Knights that remain on top of the standings.
In the first game, the College of Saint Benilde Blazers banked on Jonathan Grey’s 29 points and John Alfonso Saavedra’s 20 to demolish the San Sebastian College Stags, 88-66. The Blazers moved to solo seventh with a 2-5 win-loss card. Their first win was over Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 73-66, on July 7.
In the high school division, the Lyceum Junior Pirates beat the Letran Squires, 76-73, while the Saint Benilde-La Salle-Greenies routed the San Sebastian Staglets, 69-48, to improve their records to 4-3.
