Female rocker KZ Tandingan, whose hits include Domingo Rosco’s “Scared to Death” and Edwin Marollano’s “Mahal ko o Mahal Ako,” says she never pursued music as a career, but something that just made her feel complete.

“I’ve always wanted to perform on stage since I was young. Iba ‘yung feeling kapag nakikita mong nag-e-enjoy ang mga nanood sa’yo,” shared the small lass with a big voice from Digos, Davao del Sur, who now is a resident performer on the ABS-CBN Sunday variety show ASAP.

A winner of several singing awards (Aliw’s Best New Artist 2012; 4th placer in Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2013, and its grand winner in 2014), the 22-year-old singer has proved she has what it takes to be one of the most in the demand singers of her generation.

In her three years in the business, she has toured to perform for Filipino communities abroad, with her most recent trip, singing side by side with top celebrity Piolo Pascual in Brisbane and Sydney Australia. Her self-titled album under Star Records has also made it to the top of music charts.

Her next big challenge is to stage her first Valentine dinner concert entitled KZ 4 U on February 14 at the Grand Ballroom of Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.

Asked how a “rocker chick” like her intends to bring the romance during the show,” KZ told The Manila Times, “I’m a whole different person when it comes to love, and I guarantee that the audience will see that and feel it through my songs on the 14th.”

She added that the Valentine’s concert is another unexpected break in her singing career, for which she is very grateful.

Right now, KZ is working on a new album that contains her original compositions. She will also be more involved with the production of the record and hopes it will be released within the year. She will feature collaborations with Abra and Gloc 9 in what she describes as her “next exciting project.”
