De La Salle University’s new head coach Juno Sauler wants his wards to rely on speed in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men’s basketball Season 76 that begins on June 29 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“We need to play quick against other teams,” said Sauler, who recently replaced Gee Abanilla. “I’m confident our team can match up well against any other teams here. All players should play hard to achieve our goal.”
Sauler, who previously mentored La Salle’s women’s and junior teams, said the immediate goal is to bring the Green Archers into the Final Four.
La Salle’s backcourt crew is composed of senior guard Almond Vosotros, Thomas Torres, Robert Bolick Jr. and Kim Montalbo. They will be supported by 6’2 Jeron Teng, rookie Jason Perkins, 6’6 Arnol Van Opstal and 6’6 Norbert Torres.
For offense, the Green Archers are expected to bank on Teng. The Season 75’s Rookie of the Year, Teng averaged at least 16.2 points along with 6.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists in the elimination round.
La Salle will play against the University of Santo Tomas in the opening day.
