La Salle win Game 2 of UAAP volley finals


De La Salle University bounced back from their Game 1 defeat nipping Ateneo De Manila University,  25-14, 25-20, 19-25, 26-24, on Saturday in Game 2 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women’s volleyball Season 76 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Victonara Galang nailed 16 kills for 17 points to lead the Lady Spikers. Mika Reyes added 14 points and Abigael Marano had 11 points making La Salle one-game away of securing a four-peat.

Ateneo won Game 1,17-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-20, neutralizing La Salle’s thrice-to-beat advantage.

Meanwhile, Ateneo’s Alyssa Valdez of San Juan Batangas collected 100.00 overall statistical points to win the Most Valuable Player award in addition to winning the Best Server and Best Scorer plums.

Dindin and Jaja Santiago of National University was named Best Attacker and Rookie of the Year respectively.

The other awardees were Denden Lazaro of Ateneo (Best Digger and Best Receiver), Kim Fajardo of La Salle (Best Setter) and Kathy Bersola of University of the Philippines (Best Blocker).
